ARTIST BIO: JESSICA KINON
Always Choose What Feeds The Soul
While attending her Bachelor's program for Psychology in 2002, Jessica stumbled upon ceramics as an elective and fell in love with the craft, the challenges, and the reward of taking risks. Even though she continued her initial pursuit of becoming a therapist and spent 13 years in the field, she never lost the love for pottery. She still created as much as she could, eventually teaching others this art form as an assistant at the local community studio. After life's twists and turns, she realized her heart truly belonged to art, not psychology, and went into ceramics full time. She now is a home potter, as well as a teaching artist at Bozeman Community Kiln in Bozeman Montana. She enjoys creating textural and unique pieces from the wheel, through slab applications, as well as coil built sculptures. Her years of drawing and painting also come to life in her ceramic works.
